Only approximately 40% of primary school graduates go on to take any form of secondary education.

• Uganda is a country in Eastern Africa, west of Kenya

• English is the official national language

• Infant mortality rate is 86 deaths in 1000 live births -in the United States, the rate is 6.63/1000

• Life expectancy is less than 46 years (compared with the US life expectancy of more than 77 years)

• Currently, 77% of Ugandans are youths, 30% of these youths are orphans

• Uganda provides only 7 years of free primary education (starting at age 7) for up to 4 children in each home

• Church and government are committed to HIV/AIDS education, which has succeeded in dramatically reducing the incidence of new AIDS cases
